Introduction
Our society is characterized by overuse of new technologies. Due to masive medical information, the lack of veracity and easy acces to medical data, the number of patients who use Internet to search medical doubts is increasing. Thus, it is necessary and important to familiarize ourselves with the patient`s medical doubts and patient`s computer habits, in order to guide them to a correct use of computer resources.
Material and Methods
We designed a survey, which is divided into 4 parts: the first asks for personal information, the second asks for general use of internet, the third asks for use of internet in urological dobouts, and the last part asks for personal opinion. We survided all prostatic cancer patients who went to the urological consultation in our hospital.
Results
69.3% has internet access and more than 80% consult about their doubts via Internet. 100% trust Internet, but only 25% told it their urologist. The principal reason was "It is not important" (63%) and the second reason "I think the urologist is going to become angry" (26%). However, when they told it urologist, they answered their dobts correctly (66%) and 30% of urologist didn`t become angry.
According to avaliable information, the interest in their disease grows in 66.2%, the tranquillity rises or remains the same in more than 94% and however, the automedication decrises 25%.
In addiction, 70% regard the use of internet improves the medical atention in prostatic cancer patients, 82% percive as beneficial that urologists inform about where can they search medical information and more than 88% consider Internet improves diseasse information.
Conclusions
Nowadays we are living a revolution, a radical change in our society and medinine, specificaly in urology because the appearance of Internet. Our prostate cancer patients use Internet increasingly. Thus, we consider it is of crucial importance to advise them on Internet use, and for that. is suitable to know their computer habits and be adequately trained.
