Objectives; We evaluated the techniques and advantages of initial posterior dissection during the robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. Video shows the techniques of initial posterior dissection, in the men with history of BPH surgery and huge prostate, during the robot assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.
Materials and Methods; From July 2014 to August 2015, 120 men underwent radical prostatectomy (robot or pure laparoscopic) by single surgeon were included. We compared operative and pathologic parameters of two groups; initial anterior (A) and posterior (B) approach.
Results; The number of patients of each group is 57 and 63, respectively. The rate of positive surgical margin on the prostate base and console time in group B is lower than those of group A. Otherwise, there is no differences in each group. (Table)
Conclusions; Initial posterior dissection is feasible fashion of dissection during the robot assisted or pure laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. Particularly, this method can reduce operation time and the rate of positive surgical margin on the prostate base.
